PLN Associate Editor Alex Friedmann is available for telephone/television interviews of any length, and questions submitted by email, fax or mail on the following topics:
  • Prison Privatization: Alex is vice president of the Private Corrections Institute, and served six years at a privately-run prison. He has spoken on prison privatization issues at a Congressional caucus hearing, Critical Resistance East and a number of other events, and has written extensively on this topic.
  • Disenfranchisement: Alex is an advocate for voting rights for ex-felons and chaired the Voting Rights Committee of SOCM, a Tennessee-based non-profit that introducted disenfranchisement reform legislation in 2006. He is not yet able to vote himself.
  • General prison and corrections-related issues, ranging from capital punishment and civil commitment to exhorbitant prison telephone rates and recidivism/rehabilitation.
