He has spoken on prison privatization issues at a Congressional caucus hearing, Critical Resistance East and a number of other events, and has written extensively on this topic.
- Disenfranchisement: Alex is an advocate for voting rights for ex-felons and chaired the Voting Rights Committee of SOCM, a Tennessee-based non-profit that introducted disenfranchisement reform legislation in 2006. He is not yet able to vote himself.
