Inadequate Anemia Treatment Nets California Jail Prisoner $65,000 Settlement

A California man was paid $65,000 to settle a suit related to a jail's failure to properly diagnose and treat his anemia and emotional distress.

Mr. Elias was a prisoner of an Orange County, California, jail who suffered anemia and emotional distress. He sued in state court, alleging Defendants negligently failed to properly diagnose and treat his medical conditions. Defendants denied liability but ultimately paid $65,000 in March, 1995 to settle the case. See: Elias v. County Dept. of Health, Orange County Superior Court, Case No. 745054 (1997 WL 996592).
