Wisconsin Jail Heart Attack Case Settled for $25,000
Waukesha County, Wisconsin, paid a prisoner $25,000 to settle claims related to a heart attack he suffered while imprisoned.
Mr. Blavat was denied his prescribed heart medication while confined in Waukesha County Jail, causing him to suffer a heart attack. Blavat sued in state court, alleging jail officials negligently caused his heart attack. In 1996 Defendants paid Blavat $25,000 to settle the case before trial. See: Blavat v. Coastal Corr. Health Care, Inc., Wis. Cir. Ct. Case No. 96CV001335, (1997 WL 996576).
