$225,000 Settlement in Rape by Idaho Prison Guard

Guard John Pribble was a sexual predator overseeing women held at the Idaho
State men's prison for orientation or punishment. On two occasions he
removed the female plaintiff from her cell, taking her to his office to
rape her. Pribble was ultimately criminally charged, found guilty, and is
serving time in an out-of-state prison. When the plaintiff's lawyer in this
case learned that an in-prison investigation resulted in information on
Pribble's conduct being destroyed, the Idaho Department of Corrections
quickly settled the case for $225,000 in April 1996.

Eleven other female prisoners alleged Pribble had sexually assaulted them,
ranging from fondling to intercourse. Each filed suit with settlements
ranging from $15,000 to $225,000. See: Female Prisoner Jane Doe v. Idaho
Department of Corrections, Court and Case No. Unknown.
