$231,000 Settlement In Washington Parolee Sexual Assault Suit

In 1999 the Washington State Department of Corrections gave a $231,000
settlement to plaintiff, Teresa Vasquez, for the sexual assault of her son
Steven Ball. Michael Albert Clum was a registered sex offender, and he was
responsible for the sexual assault's against Steven Ball which were violent
and included him holding a gun to his head. The plaintiff filed suit
against the state for negligent parole supervision of Michael Clum who had
been convicted for sexually assaulting children in the past, and their
failure to supervise him properly, led to the assault against Steven Ball.
