$5,500 Awarded in Connecticut Transport Accident

While being arrested for purse snatching, Thomas Beverly suffered severe
abrasions on his knees while being apprehended. A Connecticut prison guard
struck a stopped vehicle while transporting Beverly to a hospital.

Beverly alleged he suffered a back injury that prevented him from
permanently performing physical labor. Defendant contended the injury was
preexisting. In April 1996, a jury awarded Beverly $500 past wage loss and
$5,000 pain suffering. See: Beverly v. State of Connecticut, CJ. Hartford.
