$6,285,436 Awarded In Washington Parolee Wrongful Death Suit

In 1997 a Pierce county Superior Court Jury in Washington awarded
$6,285,436 to Sylvia McFarland for the wrongful death of her 17 year old
daughter Meeka Willinham. On August 19, 1994, a man named Johnny Robert
Eggers entered Meeka's bedroom and stabbed her to death. Sylvia McFarland
had hired Johnny Robert Eggers to do odd jobs around their home. He was a
parolee from the Washington State Department Of Corrections, he had a
lengthy history of violence and mental illness which was not known to the
plaintiff and resulted in the death of her daughter. The plaintiff filed
suit for negligent implementation and enforcement of parole plan and
failing to protect her daughter and the public. Plaintiffs were represented
