A New York prisoner who was injured when he slipped and fell on an electrical outlet box was awarded $3,250.

Mr. Brito, a 38-year-old prisoner suffered low back pain, and developed ulcers from medication, when he slipped and fell on an electrical outlet box.

Brito sued in state court alleging constant pain due to Defendants’ negligence. In March, 1996, the court ruled for Brito and awarded $5,000 but then reduced the award to $3,250 upon finding that he was 35 percent at fault. See: Brito v. New York, Albany NY Court of Claims, Case No. 78369 (1996 WL 313983).
