$25,000 Settlement For Tourist Injured Visiting Alcatraz

On January 26, 2009, the United States agreed to pay $25,000 to a tourist injured while visiting Alcatraz, a federal prison turned national park.

Roberta Klein sued the United States under the Federal Tort Claims Act after she fell and suffered severe injuries when her foot struck a broken area of concrete that was not visible. Klein asserted claims of negligence and premises liability.

Klein was represented by Christopher B. Dolan and George W. Ellard of the Dolan Law Firm in San Francisco. See: Klein v. United States of America, USDC, N.D. Cal., No. O6-5729 (2009).
