$2,000 Settlement in Stolen Property Claim at Jail

Washington State’s King County Jail paid $2,000 to settle the property theft claim of Demetrius A. Jackson. On July 22, 2003, Jackson arrived at the Jail from the Regional Justice Center. When he was sent to prison, his property was sent out to family. Upon arrival, it was missing his jewelry, which was comprised of an Omega Seamaster watch, two diamond earrings and a wedding band.

The claim noted John, who works in the Jail’s property room, had been accused numerous times of stealing prisoners’ jewelry. Acting pro se, Jackson settled the claim on March 3, 2004. The documents related to this claim are on PLN’s website. See: In re Jackson, King County Claim No. 33941.
