Slip and Fall Nets $5,000 Settlement
Washington State’s King County Jail paid $5,000 to settle a slip and fall claim filed by former prisoner Clifford Goodwin. The claim alleged that on September 10, 2001, Goodwin fell in urinal waste water that was on the floor due to a broken pipe. Maintenance had been advised of the matter but had negligently failed to fix it.
Goodwin’s April 29, 2004, claim form asserted he injured his lower back, right elbow and a rash arose on his buttocks from the urinal water.
