California: $3,500 Settlement to Woman Hit by Door Opened by Police Officer

California’s County of Sacramento paid $3,500 to settle the claim of Nancy R. Wesley for injuries she incurred on November 24, 2002. As she was standing in line to put money on her daughter’s books at the jail, a police officer opened a door, hitting her on the left shoulder and knocking her to the floor.

Wesley claimed damages of $1,500 for an emergency room visit, $75 for a doctor and $8,000 for undisclosed injuries to her left shoulder and right shoulder and hip.
