Female Montana Prisoner Attacked by Male Prisoner Paid $30,000

A female Montana prisoner who was attacked by a male prisoner during a prison altercation was paid $30,000.

Ms. Perez, a female Montana prisoner, was attacked by a male prisoner during a prison altercation. She suffered facial contusions and emotional distress.

Perez sued in state court alleging defendant's actions were intentional and that he violated her civil rights and negligently caused her injuries. Defendant denied liability but paid Perez $30,000 in May, 1985, to settle the case. See: Perez v. Joyner, No. Unknown (Unknown MT Court, Gallatin Cty. May 1985)(2000 WL 33125685).
