$28,500 Paid in Florida Jail Prisoner's Medical Negligence Claim

On October 13, 1986, Neal D. Braude cut open his little finger on
his right hand at the Florida Dade County Jail. Jail personnel failed to
treat the injury. The hand eventually became infected and required three
surgical procedures that left the finger, hand and wrist with scarring and
deformity. A jury awarded Braude $28,500 for past pain and suffering. He
was represented by Anthony J. Caggiano of Miami. See. Braude v. Dade
County, Dade County Circuit Court, Case No. 89-21064.
