$31,125 Paid in WA Prison Nurse's Supervisory Harassment and Libel Suit

Jayne Morse was employed as an LPN III at the Washington State Reformatory
at Monroe. Her supervisor, Annette Beldon, ridiculed Morse in front of
prisoner and filed fictitious complaints and published allegations of
Morse's alleged criminal conduct. Beldon claimed she was a liar, unable to
perform job requirements, cannot be supervised, left her work position
without authorization, and claimed she was confrontational and a
"borderline" personality. Morse, represented by James R. Doran of Twisp,
filed suit in the Snohomish County Superior Court alleging negligent and
intentional endangerment; libel, slander, and defamation of her personality
and her profession; outrage; negligent supervision. On June 4, 1998 Morse
settled the suit for $31,125, See: Morse v. State of Washington, Case no.
