$51,050 Paid in WA Retaliation Claim

Mark Wayne Clark had previously prevailed in a retaliation lawsuit against
Sgt. Patrick O'Conner while at the Washington State Penitentiary when he
was placed in O'Conner's unit at the prison. Shortly thereafter, O'Conner
began harassing Clark and instituted disciplinary proceedings stating Clark
had abused his curio privileges by drawing sexually explicit pictures of
under age girls. He was found guilty of the infraction, and he then filed a
42 U.S.C §1983 claim in the Eastern District of Washington federal court.
The claim proceeded trial where Clark was awarded $6,600 in damages by a
Yakima jury and $44,450 in attorney fees. Clark was represented by Seattle
attorney Michael Gendler. See: Clark v. O'Conner, USDC ED WA, CS-92-0479CI.
