$7,500 Paid in WA DOC Employee's Sexual/Racial Discrimination Suit

Norma Dillman, an employee at the Washington State Reformatory, was
subjected to sexual and racial discrimination from 1986 to 1989. Her
complaint states:" On May 19, 1987, at approximately 8:30 a.m. I was
physically struck by Sgt. Gould after suffering verbal abuse for the better
part of 4 1/2 years from Sgt. Gould. He has called me the following
derogatory remarks: Worthless fucking wetback, beaner, stupid spick, dumb
Mexican cunt, greasy fucking Mexican, and similar derogatory remarks." She
filed suit in State Court in 1989 alleging violation of state
discrimination laws. On December 2, 1994, Dillman agreed to settle for
$7,500. She was represented by Russ Juckett of Everett. See: Dillman v.
State of Washington, Snohomish County Superior Court, Case No. 89-2-02606-4.
