Fifth Circuit Denies Rehearing in Pugh v. Locke/Newman v. Alabama

The court of appeals for the Fifth Circuit denied en banc review of a
class-action suit Alabama prisoners that challenged the conditions of
confinement in Alabama state prisons. The ruling on the merits declaring
the conditions unconstitutional and consolidated appeal affirming the
district court are listed. Go to the index for case information on them
Rehearing en banc was denied in separate orders. See: Newman v. State of
Alabama, 564 F.2d 97 (5th Cir. 1971) and Pugh v. Locke, 564 F.2d 98 (5th
Cir. 1977).
