Sacramento County Settles Jail Medical Neglect Claim for $1,000

On December 13, 2005, the County of Sacramento, California settled a claim against it for the medical neglect a prisoner in the Sacramento County Jail suffered in 2004.

Jose Del Toro, filed a claim against the Sacramento County alleging that, around June 14, 2004, officials of the Sacramento County Jail failed to treat his fractured foot after they were informed that it needed a cast. Del Toro allegedly had to seek treatment after his release that cost him $600, suffered pain and swelling in the foot and lost time at work following his release due to the lack of treatment while at the jail. The county settled the claim for $1,000. Del Toro was represented by Sacramento attorney Robert Lee. See: In re Del Toro, Claim No. LO 401543.
