Wackenhut Pays $32,500 in Negligence Lawsuit

Wackenhut Corrections Corporation paid $32,500 to settle a negligence lawsuit filed by Florida prisoner Michael Wyzykowski.

In his complain, Wyzykowski claimed he was ordered to cut “maiden cane” with a weed whacker that was altered by Wackenhut guards, replacing the original head and string with an eight inch saw blade, making the equipment unsafe to operate.

Wyzykowski claimed as a result of Wackenhut’s negligence, he was injured in and about his body and extremities, suffered pain and physical handicap and his working ability was impaired. The injuries are permanent and chronic in nature.

The case was settled on December 15, 2009. Wyzykowski was represented by Delray Beach, Florida attorney J. Reeve Bright.
