Former Sacramento County Jail Medical Director Sentenced for Drug Abuse

In February 2011, 15 months after he was convicted of writing fraudulent oxycodone prescriptions, Peter Dietrich, the former director of medical services for the Sacramento County Jail System, was sentenced to one year in custody for again writing fraudulent prescriptions (for his personal use), this time for hydrocodone.

Dietrich, who pleaded guilty to four felony counts, also admitted to violating the terms of the formal probation he had received in November 2009. In addition to the year in custody, Dietrich also received a suspended sentence of five years.

Dietrich died in May 2012, after serving his one year sentence.
