$20,500 paid in NY Prisoner’s Slip and Fall

$20,500 paid in NY Prisoner’s Slip and Fall

A New York prisoner received $20,000 for an injury he suffered while on a prisoner work crew. As the prisoner tried to descend from a roof, he slipped on an area where the snow had been shoveled.

He contended the defendant was liable for failing to warn him of the wet and slippery condition and requiring him to walk on the shingles in that condition. The prisoner suffered a fractured calcaneus and knee injury. In addition to the $20,000, the prisoner’s wife received $500 for loss of consortium.
