TDCJ Pays $45,000 to Settle Discrimination Complaint

On June 30, 2005, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice entered into a settlement agreement with employee Gary Walls. The settlement is the result of discrimination complaints filed by Walls with the Texas Workforce Commission and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. To resolve the issue and avoid litigation, the TDCJ agreed to pay Mr. Walls, represented by Texarkana attorney Rod LaGrone, a lump sum payment of $45,000. In exchange, Walls agreed to withdraw his complaints and forgo any future litigation on the matter. See: Walls v. TDCJ, TWC Complaint No. IA50395-D; EEOC Complaint No. 31CA500642.
