$7,500 Paid in Beating of WA Female Prisoner

Lila McCrary filed a tort claim with the office of Risk Management stating
that while she was imprisoned at the Washington Corrections Center for
Women on April, 27, 1997, she was assaulted by Jerry Keen, Correctional
Mental Health Counselor I. She was struck in the face with a closed fist,
and her head violently jerked backward and twisted and slammed into a hard
board, and had a knee forcibly placed into her back. She was also
threatened with a repeat of the improper actions if she complained. The
claim for physical and emotional damages alleged Keen was improperly hired,
trained, and supervised. On May 5, 1999, McCrary acting pro se, agreed to
settle for $7,500. See: Lila McCrary, Division Risk Management Claim No.
